When we think of history and how it’s saved we often consider photographs, written records and moving pictures. What’s sometimes overlooked is the audio record of the past. Andy Lanset is in charge of finding, restoring and cataloging the extensive collection of audio from two of the New York area’s most iconic radio stations; WNYC and WQXR. Lanset is an audio archivist for New York Public Radio and one Saturday morning two radio veterans got together to talk about his unique profession.

Always saw Him on the train platform and always had a radio station bag or jacket; very cool profession, a true passion play! Also a Pratt Grad! The rest of us Pratt grads haven’t met many from the elusive (and exclusive) Pratt Library Sciences School!
