Raritan Valley Line Mayors’ Alliance Advocates for Improved Service
Each weekday some 1,500 riders use NJ Transit‘s Cranford station. That’s only a fraction of the approximately 23,000 riders on the Raritan Valley Line and more are anticipated as development continues in the four counties along the line. The RVL Mayors’ Alliance was created to advocate for what they call equitable treatments for the line’s users. Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr serves as co-chair of the alliance, along with Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle and Bound Brook Mayor Bob Fazen. Cranford Radio spoke with Mayor Mahr to learn more about the group and their goals.

Cranford Man Serves as Archivist For Two Iconic NYC Radio Stations
When we think of history and how it’s saved we often consider photographs, written records and moving pictures. What’s sometimes overlooked is the audio record of the past. Andy Lanset is in charge of finding, restoring and cataloging the extensive collection of audio from two of the New York area’s most iconic radio stations; WNYC and WQXR. Lanset is an audio archivist for New York Public Radio and one Saturday morning two radio veterans got together to talk about his unique profession.
