State’s Transportation Trust Fund Focus of Raritan Valley Rail Coalition Meeting

New Jersey has one of the lowest gas taxes in the nation. Republicans and Democrats have said increased funding for the Transportation Trust Fund is critical to maintain the state’s transportation system but getting consensus on how to raise that funding has proven difficult. Public opinion polls have shown little support of raising the gas tax. Assemblyman John Wisniewski chairs the Assembly Transportation Committee and he addressed Monday’s meeting of the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition to speak about the trust fund. After the meeting in Westfield, he spoke with Cranford Radio‘s Bernie Wagenblast.
